CELLCUBE BATTERIES MAKE ELECTROLYSIS GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE

“Green” hydrogen production needs renewable energy supply. The deployment of CellCube’s long-duration Vanadium Redox-Flow Batteries (VRFB) – coupled to PV or wind energy sources by 100% – makes H2 operations ‘green’ and sustainable. Long-duration VRFBs and electrolyzer technologies complement each other – on the way towards energy transition these solutions go hand in hand in perfect synergy. CellCube batteries are the fundament of future-proof and emission-free hydrogen production processes.

RELIABLE 24HOURS PERFORMANCE & OPTIMIZATION

CellCube batteries stabilize renewable energy volatility and grant constant power supply. They enable 24/7 full capacity electrolyzers’ operations and guarantee the levelized energy supply, those production processes require. Absolute safety in power performance is granted. Our energy storage solutions increase the flexibility and availability of sufficient renewable energy for electrolyzers at site, they are scalable in power and capacity and have a 200% overrating capability of nominal power.

NON-FLAMMABILITY IS KEY

The intrinsic non-flammable nature of CellCube’s Vanadium Redox-Flow Batteries provides a huge advantage over standard Li-ion battery solutions and eliminates the strict transportation restrictions associated with Li-ion. The non-flammability makes it the perfect solution for critical environments such as densely populated areas, areas with critical infrastructure and hydrogen plants.

INDEPENDENCE FROM WIND AND SUN VOLATILITY

CellCube’s long-duration energy storage solutions completely cover the full load power demand of electrolyzers, even when the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine. The uncertainties of weather conditions are being eliminated and a stable off-grid production system can be run. The energy is used efficiently with surpluses stored for later, when deficits occur.

COST EFFICIENCY & REVENUES

Energy prices are volatile and purchasing from the grid might be expensive. The levelized costs of green hydrogen decrease with increasing annual full load operating hours which makes the deployment of long-duration battery storage a perfect match. Continuous operation at full load, with more operating hours and high efficiency, reduces green hydrogen production costs. Operational expenditures are being optimized. Additionally, revenues through grid services and energy market participation are a possible scenario.

MICROGRID INTEGRATION

By coupling VRFB Batteries, PV and/or wind resources and electrolyzers in a common microgrid, detachment from the grid is reached and grid costs are omitted.

Like electrolyzers, CellCube batteries have a proven life-cycle of more than 20 years – this makes our Vanadium based solutions the better partner for the industry, in comparison to offers like Lithium.
