WHY VANADIUM FLOW BATTERIES
A Metal With Many Advantages
Vanadium is found on every continent, making it a widely available and non-rare element. It is not a heavy metal and is non-toxic, making it a safe choice for applications like steel production and energy storage.
Vanadium is more abundant than many commonly known metals. With a concentration of about 120 ppm in the Earth’s crust, it is more common than copper (60 ppm), zinc (70 ppm), lithium (20 ppm) or nickel (20 ppm).
Less impact on the environment
Vanadium electrolyte can be reused in the next battery, making it highly sustainable. Alternatively, vanadium can be reclaimed from the electrolyte, and used to make high-grade steel.
