The CellCube
system

Driving the energy transition forward

Energy storage of the future

When it comes to the infrastructure for energy storage, we think in new dimensions. With the CellCube system, we provide a clean, reliable and sustainable option for long-term energy storage. The CellCube system also meets the most stringent safety standards. Our name stands for quality that holds up under the most demanding circumstances. In an endurance test over numerous years, the key components of the CellCube system undergo over 10,000 cycles without interruption. Our CellCube system has already been in continuous operation for ten years at some of our customers and is still achieving the same performance indicators as on day one. With a lifecycle of over 20 years even under the most adverse environmental conditions, the CellCube system is the undisputed choice for industrially multi-hour storage systems.

The CellCube system of your choice

Our CellCube system uses a modular design, and you can select the power independent of the capacity. There are currently three pre-configured CellCube systems available from which you can access 4, 6 or 8 hours of power in 250 kW stages: CellCube FB 500-2000, FB 250-1000 and FB 250-2000. The CellCube data sheet provides you with an overview of the key parameters of each individual system. The various power units and electrolyte tanks can also be used to develop storage system parks in the double-digit MW range and a duration of up to 24 hours.

Flexibility for your CellCube system

The CellCube energy storage system uses the vanadium redox flow technology to store large energy capacities and supplies clean and emission-free electricity within milliseconds. Its tolerance to extreme temperatures makes it possible to use the CellCube system in any region and is also what gives the CellCube system its overload capacity, in other words, the ability to operate the system at up to 200% of the rated power without damage, allowing the system to optimally follow and react to demand peaks.
But this is only part of an effective storage system. In order to operate in all scenarios and roles — regardless of whether it is grid services, black start, island grids, quick chargers or link to solar, wind or even diesel fuel — it requires the right selection of converter and transformer to take maximum advantage of the CellCube battery potential.
We are in regular contact with well-known and respected manufacturers and carry out our own systems qualifications so that we can provide optimal and valid power and performance metrics. Depending on the project, these can be performed for connection to the low-voltage or medium-voltage level. As part of designing a system, we can advise you in choosing the best converter.

CellCube Options For Your CellCube

Other options

Storage as a service

Choosing the right CellCube system is not the only essential decision. Deciding how to finance it is another. Good to know that there is an option to rent the electrolyte. This means that only the costs of purchasing the hardware will be incurred. If you choose one of the financing options, the CellCube technology itself serves as a bankable asset. The vanadium electrolyte solution can not be used up or damaged — regardless of the length of time you operate your CellCube system.

CellCube Der CellCube Klima Paket
Climate package

Thanks to the electrolyte solution’s high thermal capacity, the CellCube system can generally be used in a very broad range of temperatures. On the one hand, temperature management is affected by the number of charge and discharge cycles per day, known as energy turnover, and by the average daily temperature, on the other. With our modifiable temperature management systems, it is possible to adapt to your specific application and the predominant climate zone.

Linking DC vs. AC

As electromobility increases and more solar electricity is fed into the grid, the potential for linking vehicles, photovoltaic plants and electricity storage systems through DC converters also grows. In the last ten years, we have operated vehicles and PV power plants with our CellCube systems at the DC level. We would be happy to contribute our expertise in this area to your project.
